Advertising and sponsorship

Our approach to clearly labeled commercial communication.

Separation applies to labels, typography, page position, headlines, and the language used around a commercial placement. A reader should be able to understand when a message is paid, sponsored, or supplied by an outside organization without studying fine print. Commercial copy does not receive the same editorial treatment as an independent article, and an article does not become commercial simply because it links to a public source. Derive may reject a placement when the distinction cannot be made clearly.

Before review, an advertiser should provide the organization name, landing-page address, category, audience, proposed dates, and a contact person. The basic review looks for clear identification, factual wording, understandable conditions, and consistency with applicable requirements. It does not verify every external statement or create a personal recommendation for the advertiser. Records of the submission and decision may be retained for 24 months after the placement ends.

Derive does not share identifiable editorial contact details with advertisers. Grouped reports may describe page views, device categories, approximate regions, or campaign dates when appropriate, but they are not presented as a private reader list. Hosting, security, email, and optional measurement providers may process limited technical data under their service agreements and the cookie choices described in cookies.php. Some providers may operate outside Indonesia, with transfer safeguards considered before use.

A reader can report a misleading, unclear, or incorrectly labeled placement through contact.php. The desk aims to acknowledge the report within 10 working days and review it within 30 calendar days, including a request for clarification from the advertiser where necessary. Derive may pause or remove a placement while the review is open when continued display would create a material concern. Advertising questions should include the organization, category, proposed placement, and contact details.
